1:1 Teaching Assistant | Year 6 | Visual Impairment
Destination Education is pleased to be working with an excellent school in Bethnal Green that aims to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment for children allowing for them to succeed to the best of their ability. The school is looking for a committed Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a student in Year 6. This student is visually impaired and needs someone to support them and help them complete their work on a device, so IT skills and knowledge is a must! This school is looking for an excellent support member of staff who has experience/qualifications working with students with visual impairments and who also has a positive attitude and a passion for helping children!

About you and the role of Teaching Assistant:

  • You will be collaborating with the teacher and assisting with creating and delivering activities.
  • Good knowledge of SEN and passion to develop.
  • Able to commit to working fixed days (fulltime).
  • You will need to have a clear and valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
  • Develop a holistic approach to meeting the students’ needs by delivering on action plans and or strategies which will enable learners to make good progress.
  • Support students with vision impairment with their devices to read and write, mobility devices.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, Risk Assessments, Personal Care and Therapy Care programmes for a designated group/form.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with the student and interact with them according to individual needs.
